ICONYC Music are consistently providing outstanding quality club music.
The releases from ICONYC during 2017 have been relentless across the electronic music domain and they have kick started the new year exactly where they left off, delivering a supreme quality premier release for 2018. The quality delivered by the label and its artists, is as usual infectiously incredible and leaves you in anticipation wanting for the next instalment.
This release sees the reissue of label boss John Johnson’s track ‘Impact’ which was originally released back in 2000 on the famed Ministry of Sound imprint ‘IDJ’.
It gained huge popularity after receiving heavy plays from both Sasha and John Digweed. It was the beginning of a wave of success for the New York based producer and to this day remains a standout piece on his meticulous discography.
Regarded as one of the defining tracks in the progressive house golden era, its irresistible hooks have stood the test of time remarkably well.
The remix edition of ‘Impact’ sees ICONYC Music call upon Cid Inc. & Jamie Stevens to provide their interpretations of the track and they have certainly delivered.
Getting into the tracks, the remix from Cid Inc. is nothing but awesome. It’s a unique contrast of 90’s progressive combined with a modern tech groove. Whilst keeping the original 90’s keys, the deep under lying bassline, atmospheric breakdowns and ever increasing build ups deliver a composition that is set to grace many dancefloors over the coming months.
The Tech Dub Remix from Jamie Stevens is in one word ‘sensational’. It quickly builds into a deep progressive groove, coupled with drums and percussion that continue to increase the intensity of the track, whilst the dynamic peaks and troughs of the arrangement make it flow superbly throughout. This interpretation provides a rework of total quality and will most definitely stand the test of time alongside the original version.
Synopsis: an outstanding premier release to kick start the year in absolute style, from one of the hottest labels around at present.
