Pad One returns to Se-lek-music after his fantastic remix of Sam Ritter which is currently receiving applause. Massimiliano Padoan aka Pad One is definitely a producer and DJ to watch out for this year with his ability to merge a unique crossbreed of influences forged under his own signature and style. He’s a very consistent artist that is growing in stature production-by-production and gaining key support praise on the way. On this EP he’s provided two cleverly worked tracks which really compound what the Pad One sound is all about.
The title Borderline starts proceedings with what could be considered in some eyes as a progressive output, but there is a lot more to this track than the standard. It’s a deeply energized groove with great electronic undertones that build fantastically with hypnotic overlays. There’s dynamics to arrangement and an infectious overall feel.
The first of remixes we are excited to say is from the talented and exciting Nico Cabeza. Nico Cabeza (also Italian based) is an artist and DJ who is certainly creating more than a spark across the circuit. He’s current production output on labels such as Christian Smiths Tronic and also Moon Harbour have been gathering great pace and play listed featured amongst some of the best. He’s’ also another artist who can cross merge House to techno influences and that is evident on this remix. His interpretation of Borderline is quite techno percussive builder with a deep rolling bottom end. It’s quite hypnotic and fantastic on a big system.
Next is another original from Pad One in Creeps which is a creative journey from the off. Like Borderline there’s an element of intricacy with clever use of vocal samples that really create atmosphere. It’s got a deeper moodier edge with transient top lines that make it almost dream like in places and It’s another great arrangement that keeps interest throughout.
The final mix on the release is by Blue Amazon who needs little introduction in the Se-lek stable. The Blue Amazon remix is more of dubby work in comparison to recent remixes but one, which is worked well around a solid tech house groove with hooky elements. Once again there’s both elements of house and techno featured in this remix and highlights the Se-Lek-Music sound further.
